Happy Things For The Week

Well I meant to post daily happy things, but that didn't happen this week. I could focus on the negative because there seemed to be an abundance of it this week, but I'm not going to. Instead, I'm going to write about the things that made me smile this week....the smile worthy moments that I jotted down throughout the week. Here they are:

  • Headache patches (2/18) - I swear I don't know what I'd do without these things! Even if you don't have chronic migraines they're absolutely fantastic for even the occasional headache. You look absolutely ridiculous wearing them but nothing feels better when your head is throbbing than putting one of these icy patches on to distract from the pain. And I buy 24 of them at a time through Amazon's subscribe and save system and get a really good deal on them too!
  • Waking up to emails from friends (2/18)
  • Pinch Ups (2/18) - Some of my absolute favorite cookies and some of the easiest cookies in the world to make too! I got the recipe years ago from Bellezza and the story behind them and the way you make them is pretty beautiful too :) I'll share it in a post soon!
  • Coming home to a surprise ARC in the mail (2/18) - I got an ARC of The River Ma by Aaron Starmer and it looks wonderful! I'm so in love with the cover too :)
  • American Idol (2/19 and 2/20) - I'm really in love with this season of American Idol for so many reasons. I put it on my list three times this week. I love the judges to begin with this year. Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr are all fantastic and I LOVE that Harry is on this year representing New Orleans! He's a true music genius. The judges are all just really fantastic people too. They give great advice and give constructive criticism too without being assholes. I love the diversity that they cast onto the show this year as well. I'm in love with Emkay, the first openly gay contestant the show has had. Yes, Clay Aiken and Adam Lambert both came from American Idol and they're openly gay, but neither stated at the beginning of the show "I'm gay". Not that anyone has to do that. But I love that Emkay did, that the judges put her on the show, and then even more that America voted her onto the top 10. And her voice is just gorgeous in it's simplicity. Childish Chris was also entirely too easily amused during the results show when Ryan Seacrest repeatedly told contestants to "head on back there and take a stool." Oh my brain just goes to potty humor all too easily :p
  • Daria (2/19) - Amazon Prime has all of the seasons of Daria on it and I'm loving going back and rewatching that show. I think it's one of the best things that MTV has ever done. It almost reminds me of a graphic novel brought to life. It's hilarious, yet so poignant at the same time.
  • TORI!!!! (2/20) - I'm writing it like that because that's how it is in my phone :p I woke up three days ago to a text message from Megan that Tori Amos is coming to Dallas in July. Well I went on her website and found that she has a new album coming out!!!! Same day as Owen Pallett, two days after my birthday, May 13th!!! Needless to say, I preordered the album and with the preorder, I get a passcode to preorder tickets to the tour WHICH I AM DOING :D :D :D Me and Megan are going to go see Tori live on July 29th at an opera house!!!! I haven't seen her in over 10 years!!!! And Megan has never seen her. To say that I'm excited is a bit of an understatement. This is set to be the highlight of my year. I'm SO Freaking excited!!!
  • Seeing Charli (2/22) - This was both the absolute worse thing of the week and the best. I'm glad she's still around yet it shattered my heart into a million pieces for reasons I just can't go into again. I'm hoping that she'll be able to trust me again enough to come around again and when she does I'm never letting her go again.
  • Last day of work for the week (2/22) - That was yesterday and thank god because I really couldn't have taken another day.
  • Getting the herb garden planted (2/23) - I went by my mom's today and we went to the nursery and I bought my herbs for the year and planted my herb garden :) I planted them in the dark so I'll take some pictures and post them tomorrow. It feels SO good to be growing stuff again. I never feel quite right if I'm not growing something. I planted some cat grass out there too to see if it helps Charli come back around. She used to like to eat the lemon balm that was out there.
  • Fresh washed sheets (2/23) - Is there any better  feeling than getting into a freshly made bed with fresh washed sheets?
  • Epsom Salt Baths (2/23) - I love taking a long bath in epsom salts, especially with the CVS brand green tea and chamomile scented epsom salts. So relaxing!
And that's it for now! I'll hopefully be back soon with some long overdue updates to the project!

And yeah, freshly washed sheets are awesome! And I'm ashamed to admit that I don't wash my own nearly as often as I should. :P
